Paul Simpson, PE started his career in geotechnical engineering in 1976 as has been performing geotechnical drilling ever since. He holds both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Akron. While Paul was quickly becoming a well respected geotechnical engineer in northeastern Ohio, his true passion was field reconnaissance and subsurface exploration.

Paul and his wife, Pamela started from humble beginnings in 1984 when they purchased a used truck mounted drill rig. Initially operating as Ridgeway Engineering, Ltd., they quickly built up a clientele from Paul’s contacts in the engineering community. As their business benefitted from continuous growth, they gradually purchased additional equipment and added staff to expand their services and capabilities.

Currently, they have three (3) all terrain drill rigs, three (3) truck mounted drill rigs and a skid rig. They also have an extensive array of support vehicles, water trailers, drop deck trailers and other support equipment.

In addition to offering conventional drilling with split spoon sampling, Ridgeway is fully capable to extract Shelby tubes, perform NX rock coring, provide Dutch cone services and providing environmental drilling. They are also experienced at providing drilling services for slope stability along with the installation of slope indicator pipe.

Ridgeway Drilling has always provided a high level of quality control over the years and has been careful to maintain quality with each newly added service. Ridgeway Drilling is experienced in a wide range of projects.  The firm’s diverse portfolio of both projects and clients has led to its continued growth and success.  The geographic region of services has expanded from the northeastern Ohio to throughout all of Ohio and western Pennsylvania.  Today, we are more qualified than ever to offer clients the quality, cost-effective solutions they have come to expect from us.
